If you fancy a creative staycation, this is the course for you. The weekend is spent learning different techniques in acrylics and mixed media in a relaxed, beautiful studio/gallery. The weekend begins with a warm welcome and a hot beverage. After introductions, we begin the first session exploring acrylic painting techniques with mixed media which includes paper and pencils. The session is artist-led, so is suitable for beginners to intermediate. After a light lunch with wine, we continue to explore and experiment. You will have plenty of opportunities to practice what you learned in the morning. The day ends with a cream tea of home-made scones, clotted cream, and strawberry jam. On Sunday, you will put everything you learned into practice and create your own individual piece. Lunch, with wine, is included. After lunch, we continue working on your final piece. My very old but friendly Jack Russell, Murphy, is part of the experience. He loves a fuss and a lap to sit on. The day ends with tea/coffee and a plenary. If you want to make a weekend of it, why not book into the Travelodge at Gainsborough or the more upmarket Hickman Hill Hotel? Gainsborough is surrounded by beautiful countryside with plenty of walks, it sits on the River Trent. The Old Hall is a beautiful Tudor building in the heart of Gainsborough. It is owned by English Heritage and is a popular place for tourists and locals. Gainsborough also has Marshall's Yard, which is the old steelyard that has been converted into a shopping centre with plenty of eateries and outside areas.
