Join expert weaver Theresa Sundt to create a woven bag, not only to carry your shopping, but to also carry your precious memories.
Plan of the DayYou will be welcomed with refreshments on arrival. The workshop will start with a brief talk and introduction to weaving, and Theresa will explore with you the different weaving techniques.
We will cut the cloths you have selected for your bag, whether that be the ones you have bought with you, or there will be extra fabrics available during the workshop that you can use if you choose. The long strips of cloth will then be ready to be woven on a frame loom, in order to create your own, unique rag bag. Theresa, will demonstrate and support you to weave your fabric strips using a loom frame to create your unique piece of approximately 30cm x 30cm.
In the middle of the day, we will break for a delicious lunch Pitfield Barn lunch, before returning to complete your beautiful woven piece.
After the woven part of the bag is finished and removed from the frame loom, Theresa will demonstrate how to add fabric for the back side, lining and handles to turn your weaving into your special bag. At the end of the day, you can either take your creation home with you to machine stitch the fabric on your weaving, or, for a small price, Theresa can take it away and finish the bag off for you before sending it to you at home
