This is a one-day workshop designed to give you an introduction to the craft. You will learn about the tools and materials needed for upholstery. The workshops are perfect if you want a taster into the world of upholstery. You be taught how to make one of our stylish footstool storage crates. They are a multi-functional storage solution which can also be used as a seat. Our crates not only offer practical storage, but are a perfect gift that can be cherished for years to come. Its uses are endless including toy storage, shoe storage, footstool, storage for dogs toys, log storage, hobby box, an occasional seat, the list is endless. You could make the crate for yourself or buy it as an experience day for a creative loved one. If you are buying as a gift, please leave their name in the ‘additional information section’ at the check-out on our website. Each crate is made using a reclaimed apple crate, which is hand sanded and prepared for you to use before the workshop. The approx. finished size of the crate with its seat is 38 cm high x 50 cm wide x 40 cm deep. You will learn to make an upholstered seat. You will be taught techniques like applying foam, stapling foam, wadding, measuring and cutting fabric, stapling, cutting corners, making and applying buttons. We keep the class size to no more than six people, so you will get lots out of the day. We supply you with all the tools & materials for the course, you just need to bring 1 m of your own fabric suitable for upholstery use. If you need any help with this, get in touch. Or you can buy fabric from us. The workshop is held from our beautiful workshop, a converted Chapel in Scholar Green, a peaceful setting in the Cheshire countryside. The course will start at 9am, finishing at approximately 4-4.30pm. Hot refreshments are included throughout the day. You will need to bring your own lunch.
