We are based in a Victorian walled garden studios with gallery area, clay, glaze, materials and firing shop onsite.

We have 7 electric wheels for teaching beginners, right up to degree level ceramics.

WHO WE ARE... We are Woodsetton Art Pottery, established 1986. We are in The Black Country, between Dudey and Wolverhampston, right on the Eastern edge of South Staffordshire and Shropshire. We are based in a Victorian walled garden studios with gallery area, and clay and materials and firing shop onsite. YOUR EXPERIENCE WITH US... Up to 7 people of any age can throw pots on one of our seven adjustable wheels (please enquire, several are wheelchair accessible). Adults who are beginners or those with prior experience can learn the whole process of throwing, turning finishing and decorating. Follow the link to our website for full details and booking. You will be provided with all tools, materials, in fact everything you need to throw as many pots as you like in your enjoyable time throwing at the wheel and then during the remainder of the two-hour session you can apply some decoration and plan which pots you’d like to take away with you and what colour you’d like any glazed. Up to 3 or 4 pots each can be taken away with you that day along with advice on how to preserve your works at home (or do your own bonfire/pit firing instructions available by email) free of charge. Or you can opt to have any or all of your pots expertly dried, finished, bisque fired, glazed in your choice of colour and then fully glaze and fired again to stoneware temperature to make them oven/microwave/dishwasher/garden proof to last a lifetime. This extra service is charged at £10 per item to cover the two firings of 15 hours each and glazes and expert time taken by the potters. Complementary refreshments of tea/fruit tea/green and black teas/coffee/hot chocolate are on hand. Safe free parking. Your tutor Lorraine, a graduate of Ceramics from Bath Academy of Art, with post graduate teaching qualification and full DBS check. She has worked as a production thrower in a Black Country factory, at a company in Stoke and for the last 20 years as a degree lecturer and award-winning designer maker, for numerous customers including the Victoria and Albert Museum. What's included in the price

All the clay you can throw in your fun and informative hour throwing at your own potters wheel, take your pots away with you on the day free of charge (or pay a small extra fee to have any or all your pieces prepared twice fired and glazed by the experts) compliments choice of hot drinks.
