Make a Pair of Adult or Child Dungarees

This is an opportunity for those fairly new to sewing, or those who want to improve their skills, to learn how to use a commercial dressmaking pattern. You will make a pair of child or adult dungarees.
This is a relaxed fit dungaree/overall. It has tie straps which don’t need undoing in order to take the garment on and off! Choose between button holes or loops. In addition, there are FIVE pockets for hiding all your stuff. They are designed to be long and worn rolled at the ankle. They can be made in almost any fabric, although I would recommend a woven and medium weight one. There are loads of versions to be seen on instagram, some even made of duvet covers.

Skills you will learn: Understanding pattern symbols and fabric terms Understanding how to work with woven fabric Cutting out creating straps and loops. Making a patch pocket Sewing plain/ open seams and learn suitable ways to neaten edges Use of an overlocker – I’ll bring 2 overlocker machines for use if required. Prior knowledge required You will be able to: Use a sewing machine and be able to stitch fairly accurately ALL other skills will be taught at the class

What's included in the price

A printed and digital copy of the Waves and Wild Heyday dungaree pattern for you to take away. What to bring: Sewing machine if you have one – I have some to use but it makes sense to become familiar with your own. Sewing equipment – I bring everything we will need but you might like to bring basic sewing things you have. Tea, coffee and biscuits are provided. Please bring your own lunch. Fabric requirements will be supplied on booking, but you need around 2 metres of fabric.
