    Ring Making Workshop – Wide Band

    Textured ring band – For this workshop I will guide you through the steps to create a ring band (a wider flatter band rather than a slim stacking ring) adding texture or stamping a design or letters. You can practice on copper first, so if there is time you can take away a finished copper sample ring as well as a sterling silver ring.

    Rings & Things Workshop

    * New Workshop * Rings and things workshop is suitable for beginners or those with some prior experience.

    This workshop revolves around making rings and other circular things with wire. You will have 20 cm of either round or square sterling silver wire, and basically you will make anything circular. For example, you could make –

    * A set of simple stacking rings

    * A halo pendant

    * An infinity pendant

    * A Russian wedding ring or pendant

    * Hoop or round drop earrings

    * A simple ring and halo pendant (using additional metals such as brass or copper)

    You will practice with copper first making a simple ring, and you can incorporate other metals into your finished design. Wire can be textured or twisted to add detail. The amount of ‘rings’ you get out of your silver will depend on your ring size and what you decide to make. Some designs such as twisted wire will use more silver.

    Jesmonite Workshop

    Jesmonite jewellery, coasters and pots. During this workshop, you will learn how to create items from Jesmonite. JESMONITE is a non-toxic, water-based 2 part resin system that dries to an opaque stone like finish. It is a great versatile material to work with and during this workshop you will learn how to create jewellery and other items by adding coloured pigments, using marbling techniques, adding foil and creating 2 tone effects. I have a wide variety of moulds to create jewellery items, coasters/trinket trays, trinket boxes and small plant pot/tea light holders. There is no limit on the amount of items you create, so you can make just jewellery or a combination of items.

    Jesmonite hardens in about 30 mins, so items can be removed from the mould at this point, however 24hrs is needed for items to fully cure. You can take your items home with you at the end of the session, but I would recommend leaving for the full 24hrs before assembling into jewellery. For this reason, students will be responsible for providing their own findings. (I can provide a little silver plated findings so that some pieces can be finished during the session).
