The course is available on its own or with a weaving starter kit. Choose from nine different colour ways, and a small or medium sized frame loom. Please note: The medium looms are flat packed and come with clear instructions for quick and easy assembly. Equipment: Small loom: 25cm x 38cm with a weaving area of 19.5cm x 34cm approx, or Medium loom: W 38cm x H 45cm with a weaving area of W 26.5cm x H 39cm Heddle bar Pick up stick (with small loom only) x2 shuttles Wooden needle Comb Vintage silver fork (beater) Bent tapestry needle Materials: x1  Warp yarn, 50g x3 Hoooked 'Soft Cotton DK' recycled cotton, 50g each x3 Hoooked 'Eco Barbante' recycled cotton, 50g each x2 Hoooked 'Spesso' chunky recycled cotton, 50g each x3 Plant roving, 25g each We're so excited to be building this creative community and can't wait to see your creations!     Introduction to Natural Dyeing

    6 hour ‘Introduction to Natural Dyeing’ workshop, 10am-4pm, Mere, Wiltshire.

    Learn the alchemy and magic of extracting colour from plants in this relaxed and informative workshop.

    What’s included

    The workshop includes 6 hours of guided tuition, which includes all the necessary materials and equipment including aprons and gloves.

    You will be given your own clear workshop handouts to take away with you.

    Teas, coffee and biscuits will be available all day. Please bring a packed lunch with you.

    What to expect

    The workshop will teach you the basic principles and practice of natural dyeing using traditional, kitchen and foraged dye-stuffs. There will also be an introduction to indigo and over dyeing.

    Spaces are limited to ensure you receive as much guidance as you need, and all learning is supported with a clear handout of notes which are yours to take home.

    This workshop is suitable for complete beginners and those that have a little experience who would like some more practical guidance.

    Natural dyeing starter kits will be available for you to purchase at the end of the workshop for £35. These include all the ingredients you’ll need to start dyeing at home.

    ABOUT YOUR TUTOR

    Claudia is a natural dyer and retired teacher who has been professionally dyeing yarns for Elka Textiles for many years. She has a keen interest in the science of natural dyeing, as well as delighting in the colours that emerge from the dye pot.
