Join glass artist, Jazz Dixon, for a craft class with a difference and learn to create your own beautiful glass flowers and a freestanding piece inspired by the colours of Spring. Please note that the 3D flowers are suitable for indoor or outdoor display. Plan for the Day: You will be welcomed with refreshments before Jazz gives a short introduction to glass fusing and the wide range of techniques used. Having talked you through the projects for the day, and having drawn inspiration from the Pitfield Barn flower fields, you will have time to think about your own creative ideas, before selecting colours for your own flowers from a wide range of options. Jazz will then introduce you to glass cutting, and with expert guidance, you will cut and shape your glass to create the petals for your flowers.Tutor: Jazz graduated as a BA Hons Designer Maker from the University of Brighton, specialising in glass. For many years she taught design and crafts to children, and now she teaches glass techniques to adults. She has a reputation for patience and intimate knowledge of glass as material and a variety of techniques for crafting it. Subjects Covered: An explanation of the art of fusing glass Understanding how to choose glass to create beautiful glass decorations Practice with 2 different decorative techniques to create 2 or 3 separate pieces to take home An exploration of different ideas & inspiration to spark your own imagination By the end of the day, you will have: Enjoyed the beautiful surroundings of the flower garden in Spring Understood the basic theory of glass fusing and used 2 different techniques to create your pieces Had a go at glass cutting Designed and completed ready for firing: 1 glass panel, which will be framed or freestanding 1 double or 2 single 3d glass flowers with wire stems Who is the course for? No experience necessary. The day involves basic glass-cutting, which Jazz will show you and help you with. The Group: Jazz teaches in small, informal groups with a maximum number of 9 places. The day is very hands-on, practical and relaxed.
