    Learn Mexican Otomi Embroidery

    Next in the Stitches of the World Series comes the bright and beautiful Otomi Stitching from Mexico. Using a customised version of a favourite stitch, Otomi stitching uses bright and bold colours to portray flora and fauna. We use a white cotton and perle thread to create this colourful creation. It measures 25x35cm, so is larger than the usual being Ewe workshops – but this is more representative of the stitching works created by the Otomi people – of which you’ll learn more in the class!
    This workshop will be held over 2 evenings – 13th and 20th of June.

    Hand Embroidery Course for Beginner

    Learn the basics of hand embroidery and develop your skills with experienced hand embroider, Jung Byon. Each week, Jung will be teaching you different embroidery skills, and you’ll learn by embroidering different motifs.

    This workshop is open to beginners and experienced embroiderers.

    You can join the 4-week course (every Friday in March) or any of the dates (every Fridays) which you are particularly interested in.

    10:00-3:00 (12:00-1:00 lunch break)

    Figurative Textiles with The Pale Rook

    Join world-famous textile sculptor Johanna Flannigan, aka The Pale Rook, to explore the stories you know, the stories you hear, and the stories you want to tell. Work with a mix of traditional cloth doll making methods and free form textile sculpture, as well as incorporating found objects and natural materials to create a unique figurative sculpture. You will learn how to recognise emerging characters in your doll making, and how to use the inherent qualities of your materials to bring these characters to life.
