Using natural wool, you will learn how to create your own Green Man Mask. Suitable for beginners and those will some needle-felt experience. Not suitable for under 14s, as sharp needles in use.
Even if you have never felted before, you will be able to make your own mask, which you can wear or proudly display on your wall. Everyone will be able to make their own individual character, and I am really looking forward to seeing the end results! Discovering Feltmaking Part 2
This second course has been developed to show you how to use coloured wool creatively to enhance your feltmaking. Coloured wool in feltmaking can be compared to the artist’s palette. Just as a painter would choose the type of paint and method of application to achieve the effect required, then the feltmaker must make similar choices with wool.
Using only 3 primary colours and black and white, you will learn how to expand your colour palette and add colour to the surface of your felt in a variety of ways. DF2 will also provide the second set of skills required for any student wishing to embark on CiFT.

Felt Flower Workshop
Join us for a fantastic day learning to felt your own wonderful Flowers, all in the beautiful surroundings of Nottinghamshire’s finest vineyards – Hanwell Wine Estate. Located in our 100sqm Craft Barn, our exceptionally talented tutor Rachel Morley will introduce you to the tools and techniques of working with felt, so by the end of your session you will have accomplished a beautiful handmade Felt Flowers to display on your table.
What you will learn – To make two flowers and leaves you will be learning several felt-making techniques: wet felting, combining wool and silk fibres (carding), making felt ropes, and dry needle felting.
What is included – All tools, materials, refreshments and a 2-course homemade lunch served with local wine are included.
This workshop is perfect for absolute beginners or people who want a new project.
Outline of the day
10am | Welcome with refreshments and meet tutor Rachel Morley
Introduction to the tools, showing of techniques and handling of the felt.
10.30am | Start felting your flowers under instruction from your tutor
11.30am |Refreshments
11.45am | Back to felting. Demo of felt rope stems/leaves
12.30pm | 2-course handmade lunch served with a glass of local wine.
1.30pm | Continue working on your creation
3.30pm | Refreshments served with a snack

In this one day workshop, you will explore wet felting techniques for visual representation. Drawing and painting with wool, adding depth and texture to your work, and needle felting for fine detail.
No drawing or felting experience is necessary. We can work from drawings, photographs and other printed images. These can be provided, but If you have an idea for a picture, please bring your inspiration.
